You Can Take a Horse to Water...

Today we decided to take a family outing to one of the swimming pools on post. Alegria LOVES her kiddies pools, so we figured she'd also LOVE the big pool! She's been in them before and has enjoyed them, so why would we even think that this is the face we'd get?!

Alegria: "You're not really thinking of making me go in there, are you? I may have to call CPS and report pre-meditated drowning..."

Alegria kept trying to climb out of Daddy's arms...not wanting to get wet:

We decided on a different approach and took her to the children's pool where she could actually touch the bottom and see if that would help...and it did!

Finally enjoying herself:

While we were in the children's pool, something kind of strange happened. Cameron was playing with Alegria, at one point tickling her feet...when all of a sudden, some random little girl started tickilng HIS feet! I would say she was about 5 or 6. Cameron was weirded out by it, but he was a good sport and kind of laughed and then went back to playing with Alegria. Well, then he started throwing Alegria up in the air and back into the water with him...and then this random little girl asked him to throw her up in the air, too! We both kind of looked around, searching for this girl's parents, but we saw no one in her near vicinity! I mean, if it were my child pestering a strange man, I would come up to her and apologize to the man and tell her to "quit bothering the nice man." Nothing like that happened, though. But we DID notice a woman sitting off to the side of the pool, flirting it up with some random guy who we could tell was not the girl's father. We double checked and yes, all of the other children in the children's pool were accounted for, playing with their respective parents, except for this one. Hm...

Finally, though Alegria was having a grand time in the children's pool, we decided to head out.

Another attempt at the big pool... we let Alegria take it slowly, getting her dainty feet in one at a time:

Prognosis? Pools are fun!!!

What a fun time at the pool!!! :)

A Hard Day

Playgroup was at our place today. It was fun having the ladies and children over, as always! Alegria even put on a puppet show for Lacey!

Then she even gave her a hug! How sweet!!!

Mollie wearing cute hair bows:

Alegria tried on someone's headband...granted, she put it on backwards, but that makes it all the more fun and cute!

Thursdays are so much fun because we get to go to playgroup and hang out with our friends, but they can also be hard. For the most part, Alegria takes a nap at about 12:30 and wakes up about 2.5 hours later. We can be flexible and sometimes have her nap a little earlier or a little later, depending on what our activities are that day. On Thursdays, though, Playgroup starts at 11 and we usually don't get home (if it's at someone else's place) and in bed for a nap until about 3 or 3:30...and a lot of times this is also fine, but some days it makes for a cranky Alegria later in the evening! Today was one of those Thursdays where her nap didn't help her mood!

Throwing a fit and using Daddy's uniform as a "hiding place" to throw her tantrum:

Not long after, she ran to hide by the garage door to throw another tantrum:

Today she also had a booboo on her leg...I can't remember how she even got the scratch, but in order to doctor it up a bit, we put a bandaid on it. However; the only bandaids I have are waterproof ones...and boy, did it hurt when a few minutes later she wanted us to take it off! Cameron's nails are too short, so he couldn't take it off, and my solar nails (a type of acrylic nails) were too thick to allow me to take it off, either! So we ended up having to use a pair of pliers to peel off the stubborn bandaid! Alegria was not very happy, and after that, she was walking with just the heel of her "hurt" foot. You can kind of see how she's walking during the first few seconds of this video:

Anyway. Now it's off to bed in hopes that tomorrow will bring a brighter mood to our little girl so she's not as fussy!!!

Have a good night everyone!!! :)

Big Girl!

Alegria is such a big girl! Alegria is such a good girl!

This morning, I heard Alegria when she woke up and I waited a few minutes...but she just kept making her usual morning noise. When I went to her room, it turned out that she was still sitting in bed and she didn't get out until I came into the room! What a sweet child!

On the one hand, it's wonderful that she waits for me to come get her to get out of bed...which means her room isn't a mess right from the beginning of the day! On the other hand, her making noise for me to come get her instead of playing with her toys and entertaining herself means that I don't get extra time to sleep. :( But that also means that she'd rather play with me than with toys, so I feel more special! :)

Anyway. At nap time, I wondered if the same would happen as did last night, or if, since there is the light of day in her room and it makes it easier to see her toys and therefore they could possibly tempt her to play with them, I wondered if THIS time, I'd have trouble with her taking a nap and staying in her crib...I mean bed! :)

I had no cause for worry! I came in to check on her while she slept, just to see, and this is what I found:

Please, please, please Alegria...please continue to take naps once Odette is here so that I can hopefully get some rest, too!!!

That's all for today!

Bye!

Toddler Bed!

We didn't do much this morning, but in the afternoon, we went outside so that Alegria could play in her pool. Daddy decided to splash me, so Alegria tried to do it, too!

It's a good thing she wasn't quite successful at it or the camera would have gotten all wet!

Here she is signing for Daddy to do it "again:"

We don't mind Alegria drinking from the little fountain, but once she starts drinking out of the pool itself, that's when we have to start telling her over and over again to not drink the water! Not only does she climb out and in and therefore drag grass and dirt into the water...

...but Isis also tries to drink the water and so there's dog drool in it, too! YUCK!!!

After dinner, Daddy transformed Alegria's crib into a toddler bed...with Alegria's help, of course! She has to be foreman for any and all construction around here and supervise to make sure it gets done right!

Do we have your approval, Miss Foreman Alegria?

She loves it!

A little too much, maybe?

One little monkey, jumping on the bed...

Alegria: "Thank you, Daddy, for bringing me one step closer to being more independent!" :)

And that was our day! It will be interesting to see how Alegria does with her new toddler bed tonight! Will she get out of it as soon as we put her down for the night and play and fall asleep on the floor or in the rocking chair? Will she wake up in the middle of the night and get out of bed and play? Will she stay in bed but in the morning wake up and get her toys and play (and entertain herself, thus giving me extra time to sleep)? We shall see!!!

Good night everyone!!! :)

Too Hot for Good Hair!

Story Time this morning was good and fun as usual! :)

Later on, after a nap, we went outside to play and most of the time had to sit in the shade of the porch...it's so hot outside!

I apologize for my appearance, but it's just way too hot today!!! I feel like I'm melting!!!

That was pretty much the extent of our day. It's too hot to do anything else!

Good night! :)

Thanks for visiting...come back soon for updates!
