A Drive to the Temple

This morning we went to church.  Sacrament started at 11, so we were able to sleep in a little bit.  :)

After sacrament meeting, we went to meet with a property manager to a house in the area that we were looking at renting.  Our appointment was at 1 and we got there sooner than we'd anticipated, so we drove around the area to get to know it a little better, in case we ended up renting this home.

Unfortunately, the house was in a deplorable state, not well kept up, and way too high of a monthly lease for what we saw.  As SOON as we walked in, we saw a toilet sitting in the entryway of the downstairs bedroom.  And that's just the beginning.  I can't even begin to mention all of the things that were wrong with the place.  The worst part of it was that the property manager said it would be ready for move-in TOMORROW.  You're kidding me, right?  He told us that he would be removing the stones in the backyard and putting in grass...but the process wasn't even started yet!  What's unfortunate is that the place COULD actually be a really nice place...but we would never RENT a place and put our money into fixing it up if we didn't own it and get something out of it later.

Oh well!

Once we were done taking our little tour of that rental home, we drove up to Laie to see the Temple.

It's only our second full day here and we got to see such beautiful sights!

You could tell it was Odette's nap time:

But not for Alegria!

After about 30 miles and a whole hour of driving (surf traffic!), we made it to our destination, the Laie Temple:

A statue of Lehi Blessing Joseph:

Duplicates of the frescoes found at the top of the Laie Temple:

Another statue/frescoe:

(Excuse my hair...it was very windy!)

Odette was pointing to a plane flying overhead:

We were happy to find that the Visitor's Center was actually open!  It's a beautiful facility and we can't wait to explore it more during our next Temple trip!  :)

On our way home, we drove by BYU-Hawaii:

Tired girls:

I guess she was just pretending...

It's going to be a GREAT three years!!!  :)
