Daddy's Back!

Before Cameron got home today, Alegria spent some of the day bettering her climbing skills:

Then she was drinking out of my cup and spilled water all over her onesie...so I let her go about in just a diaper for a little while:

Later, she and I went to go pick up some diapers from the Shoppette, but her onesie was still wet, so I just put her overalls on her:

When we got home, Daddy was already home!!! YAY!!!

After Alegria went to bed, I came out from the bedroom to find Cameron like this:

Poor guy...he had told me when we got home that from Sunday until today, they'd only had about TWO HOURS of sleep! So he literally CRASHED on the couch. I read a little bit and made a few phone calls.

Now Cameron's awake and we're gonna go to bed.

Good night!

**********

Well...I guess it wasn't in the stars for ME to go to bed yet...as Cameron and I were getting ready to go to bed, Alegria heard us and woke up. I tried nursing her back to sleep, but she didn't want to. I didn't want to keep Cameron awake by staying in the bedroom to try to get her to stop "talking" and go to sleep, so she and I came back out. I decided to make some pudding and went into the kitchen. Alegria followed me, of course. :)

Here Alegria is trying to take some tape off of a box underneath the bar in the kitchen...I don't know WHAT her fixation is on plastic! She just loves it! Paper, plastic, electrical cords...anything you don't want her ingesting, that's what she goes for!

Once I finished and put the pudding in the fridge, she tried getting into the fridge herself, so I distracted her and brought her over to her toy shelf, where she picked up her medicine syringe and played with it...well, sucked on it:

Well...it's about 11:45 and I think Alegria's finally getting sleepy again. I sure hope she goes to sleep fast...I'm pretty tired myself!

Good night! (For real this time!) :)

Our Crazy Climber

Alegria and I had a quiet day at home today.

Here is Alegria helping me get stuff out of the fridge for lunch:

Alegria: "Water, Mother?"

"Or milk?

"Milk it is! Milk...it does a body good!"

I tried getting Alegria to pose for her 44-week picture, but it was a bust today...no smiles at all:

She even tried escaping!

Alegria: "This is what I think of your amateur photo shoots, Mommy: Pffllt!"

"I'm outta here!"

And as if watching her constantly weren't enough, now I've got to watch her like a hawk! She decided to be a climber today and she climbed up on her toy shelf and played there for about a minute...

...before climbing back down:

Also, today she stood on her own for about 5 seconds! It was so exciting! We'll have a walker soon!!!

Have a good night!

Funny Faces!

Cameron left early this morning to go out to the field for the last time during our stay in Kentucky. He kissed us goodbye and was gone.

Alegria and I kept sleeping. At about 7:15 I woke up but stayed in bed wondering if I should get up and start getting ready and risk waking Alegria up. I wanted to make sure she slept long and well so she'd be in a good mood during church. At 7:25 I finally made my move...and sure enough, that woke Alegria up.

We got ready and were out the door a little later than last time. I figured it would be okay, though. We'd only miss the attendance-taking...and I was right. We got there as the services were just beginning...and there was more room today, so Alegria and I didn't have to search high and lo for a seat. Also, because there weren't as many soldiers there today, it wasn't as hot in the building, though I had actually brought my Cambodian fan with me.

Today the high councilman and three of his daughters were there. Before the brother spoke, his 13-year old daughter sang a song...a very special song. She told us that two years ago (when she was 11), she went to visit Arlington Cemetery with her family and that it impacted her so much that she wrote a song. And that's what she sang to us. It's called "Our Brave Soldiers." It was beautiful! I was so impressed!

After church, Alegria and I returned home and we both took a nap.

When we awoke from our nap, Alegria and I just played around. Here she is playing with her favorite chair:

Here she is playing with the suitcase:

Here she is playing with the wall:

Here she is playing "peek-a-boo" with me with one of her blankets:

And here's a picture of Alegria ALMOST taking her first step! She was cruising at the edge of the bed and decided she wanted to go play near her crib. Usually she just gets down and crawls to it, but today, she attempted to actually "walk" to it! I missed it, though, because I tried getting a video of it after getting this shot and I totally missed it as I switched the camera from still shot to video. So she hasn't had her first step yet. If I didn't see it, it didn't happen! Though...actually, she had her first step the other day, come to think of it. Cameron was playing with her and I told her to come to me and she actually took one step! When she did it, Cameron and I were amazed and just stared at each other for a couple of seconds! I can feel it in the air! Alegria will be walking soon!!!

Happy with herself, she sings praises at her good work!

The next few pictures are funny faces! When we play at her crib, what we usually do is play "peek-a-boo" around the corners of it with Alegria on one end of the crib and me on the other. Alegria gets super excited and mashes her face up against the mesh of the crib and today I actually got pictures of some of the faces she made! The first one is my favorite!!! She reminds me of Quasimodo!!!

After our fun with the crib, Alegria goes back to exploring other things. Here she's trying to take her changing pad off the bed (we use the bed as her changing table).

By the end of the night, Alegria has had so much fun, she wants to call her Daddy to let him know all we've done. :) It's too bad he has his phone turned off and we can't get a hold of him. :( But it's for the best! We don't want him to lose his concentration and not do well on his missions!

And that was our Sunday.

Oh! I almost forgot! Today I was reading some message boards on What To Expect.com and I found out that Billy Mays died. Boy, was it a bad week for Hollywood! Ed McMahon, Farrah Fawcett, Michael Jackson, and now Billy Mays! May they rest in peace.

Have a great night!

Fort Knox Water Park

What a lovely Saturday! Cameron didn't have to work today, so we all got to sleep in...well...if you call 7:30 sleeping in! :)

When Alegria took her morning nap, this is how we found her when we walked in the bedroom:

Later on, Cameron was putting away his workout equipment...and of course, Alegria was right there to help!

So Cameron had a little fun with her!

Once Cameron had everything in the box, Alegria kept wanting to play with it, so as he moved the box around himself, she kept following it and making circles around him in the process! I should have gotten a video! It was too funny! :)

Then we went to the Fort Knox Water Park. We thought we were smart to get there at 11 am, right when it opened...but I guess everyone else was "smart" too! No sleeping-in here! There was a line at the gate when we arrived. It didn't take too long to get through, though, so that was good.

I must say, the water at this water park was warmer than the water there at the pool at Fort Hood in Texas when we went. I was surprised. Anyway. Alegria really enjoyed the water park...though it may not seem so by the look on her face!

There was this mushroom thing at the water park. Cameron took Alegria through it...and THAT, she did not like. Cameron told me that the water was coming down pretty hard, so I guess she was justified in her dislike of the mushroom.

It didn't take long to get her back in a good mood, though. Daddy just had to get her interested in something else!

Daddy and daughter...just a chillin'!

Alegria didn't really know what to do about the spouting water, so Daddy tried showing her how to play with it...

...and when she still didn't "get it," Cameron and Alegria just chilled some more and posed for a picture.

We hadn't been there long when one of the lifeguards blew the whistle and instructed everyone to get out of the water. Alegria was not happy about that:

But then Alegria realized there were quite a few characters at the water park and she spent the time out of the water, just people-watching! Can you believe Cameron, Alegria, and I were pretty much the only ones there without tattoos? There was even a little boy who had a fake tattoo on his arm!

I don't know how long we were out of the water, but I want to say it was about 15 minutes. Maybe it was so that they could clean the bugs out of the water that had landed in there so far. Maybe it was to give the lifeguards a break...though, I don't see why they couldn't just go one at a time so there's always a lifeguard there. I don't know. Everyone else must have known, though, because they all came prepared...with lunches, snacks, drinks...and they just ate and drank while they waited. Oh well! It wasn't too bad just waiting.

When the wait was over, Alegria was extremely happy to go back in the water.

After about an hour at the water park, we finally went home.

Once home we showered and took naps. Then we went grocery shopping. Here Alegria is holding a gallon of milk. When Cameron tried taking it away from her to put it in the cart, she had a fit, so we let her hold on to it.

The rest of the day was uneventful. It was a great day filled with family fun!!!

Oh! I almost forgot! Today while at home, Cameron was playing with Alegria and they came over to where I was. I motioned to Alegria to come to me...so Cameron let go of her as I reached me arms out...and she took a step towards me! I don't know if she would have kept going because I instinctively reached for her after that first step. Cameron and I were so surprised that she took her first step that we stared at each other for a few seconds! It was so exciting! I'm sure she'll be walking soon!!!

Ciao!

Thanks for visiting...come back soon for updates!
